Stephanie T. Chen

Research Scientist - Statistician / Data Scientist, Eli Lilly & Company

I am currently a statistician/data scientist on the Advanced Analytics - US Commercial team at Eli Lilly & Company (LinkedIn profile). In this role, I support the Biomedicines Buisness Unit using advanced analytics, statistical modeling, and optimization.

I completed my Ph.D. in Statistics in 2019 in the Department of Statistics at North Carolina State University. My thesis research focused on developing methodology for functional data applications, with my advisors Luo Xiao and Ana-Maria Staicu.

I graduated from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor in 2013 with a dual B.S. in Environmental Science and Ecology & Evolutionary Biology. I was part of the Continential Environments Research Group and Smith Lab where I worked on the reconstruction of ancient environments using phytoliths and soil isotopes. My honors thesis was on the nutritional ecology of Golden Snub-Nosed Monkeys, and I spent a year studying them in China on a Fulbright scholarship before starting my Ph.D.

In my free time, I enjoy photography, hiking, and traveling with my dog, Furby, We love to roadtrip and are fond of battlefields and other historical sites. At UM, I was part of the Michigan Ice Carving Team.
